I think they started to roll out larger SMP WUs to counteract the shortage of bigadv WUs as my quad core (Phenom II X940) picked one this morning , project 6099, that will finish in 1.4 days, 1588 points with bonus factor 5, I get a tpf of 20mins. Or maybe is an intentional change to force all machines under 16 threads to process SMP? The other Phenom @3.2 GHz just picked one WU from project 10127 and the tpf is 62 mins! Preferred deadline 15 days with 10376 bonus points. So I would say they are clearly leveling the balance for the new configuration : increasing size and bonuses on simple/classic (under 8 threads for now) SMP units to still keep the donors interested.

PPD output is crap. My i7 920 @ 3.8 is getting ~10k. Nowhere near what it was with BIGADV.

Why not just save up for this Intel CPU to come out. It's called Knights Corner. Here is a link for more info.
Intel Demos Teraflop-Crunching Monster Chip | News & Opinion | PCMag.com I plan on buying 10 Knights Corner cpu's right after I buy the state of California after it files for bankruptcy.

Interesting, so this is a similar thing like the additional math coprocessor for the 486s chips? well, is going to be interesting how intel will put this thing into action. i guess fastest way will be an add in card, on PCI EX, and how much is it going to cost? And, most importantly, is it gonna be worth?

I don't think that this person is stressing over points. heartms98 - User Summary - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats More on point is that we are all in the same boat. I remember when I first started folding@home I was lucky to make 500ppd. Look how things have changed. I'm pretty sure a donation to F@H is going to be more cost effective than using all our computers as room heaters. So It seems to me like the point system is out of wack. Not much we can do about it, but do our best.

Yes but like this instead we help the economy : we give to cpu manufacturers, we give to video card manufacturers, we give to local power companies and we do heat our homes also.

I'm just saying not everyone shares our views. I think it's a win/win for F@H don't you think?
