Interesting....

I removed the -advmethods flag .....

The first unit I got was a 12000 point unit......seemed to produce 3900 ppd-ish.

It just got an 1803 point unit (small im assuming)...running 3000 ppd.

I'm going to set the size flag to small and see what happens.

Ok......

I have an update.

Now , I'm not going to break down workunits ,or settings other than the WU size.

Setting the workunit size made no difference.
---

Still 2-2.5 Kppd at best....still seems low.

.

Dont' really care tho , I'll probably give Mr. q9450 it's well deserved retirement from folding.

Yea SMP PPD has dropped a lot. Used to get around 6k. Now I'm getting half. Might stop folding altogether.

I tried Ubuntu over Win 7 and I got 9.6k ppd on a unit that win 7 usually was giving around 7k. Unit took 25 hours to complete on a Phenom II @3.2GHz. So you guys might want to set it up as a dedicated Linux folder if you have a quad around and are unsatisfied with folding results under windows.

I've retired the q9450.....It's done thousands of WU's , it doesn't owe me anything.

It's being relegated to server duty right away anyways , SB-e comes out monday , I'll let my new chip worry about the SMP.

Aren't Linux WU different from Windows WU?

Are they? For SMP? I wasn't aware. Anyway, for windows SMP client I deactivated -advmethods flag and I get units that take less time to process.

OK.

I've un-retired the q9450......it's now a dedicated folder.....I've put it back onto Windows XP......

Running regular SMP , "big units" (as instructed by the install guide) , back to 4-5 kppd....I would not have thought the OS difference would be that much , but it is.

Now that cooling isnt an issue (it's in the garage), I'll be OC'ing that sucker too , we'll see where it ends up.
