Chimp Challenge 2011: We won the Jaded Monkey! Congrats to ALL CC folders!

Now folks, we need to start planning for nest year!

I was a tough road and there was some stiff competition to the end, but we managed to pull it off.

Great job Canucks!!

Great job to all the teams, especially Evga and OCN, who put up some serious PPD!!!


Its been a long road, but the new rules have been finalized for the 2011 Chimp Challenge. This year, the big change will be the Chimp Challenge points system, where teams get rewarded for how many folders they can get folding under the CC username, (Beavers_Gone_Bananas), and new folders.

Here are the official rules as agreed to by the team captains. These are new rules, so we hope there are no glaring loopholes. No system is perfect, but this is the best method we could determine that would help promote folding.

1. Each team will fold for 10 days solid for the duration of the contest.

A "Chimp Points" system will be used to determine the placings as follows:
The total points of each parent team is taken from the months of October 2010 to February 2011.
One-tenth of a percent (0.1%) of the respective team's 5-month total will be the points required to earn one (1) Chimp Point.

The team with the most Chimp Points earned at the end of the 10 days will be declared the winner.

Overclock.net - 1,103,027,683 5-month total 1,103,028 = 1 Chimp Point

Overclockers.com - 687,521,160 5-month total 687,521 = 1 Chimp Point

TSC! Russia - 740,887,400 5-month total 740,887 = 1 Chimp Point

2. Start time for the contest is Thursday, May 5th at 12pm, Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7).
The finish for the contest is Sunday, May 15th at 12pm, Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7).

3. The victor gets to claim the lucky jaded monkey as the prize.
Tales have been told of untold wealth and fame that comes with this.
The victorious team is allowed to display in any honorary fashion the jaded monkey, the losing teams are forbidden to display it.
The losing teams are bestowed the dreaded monkey's paw, which is said to be cursed.
People have been known for have very bad luck with this paw!

5. In the event of a close race, a Stanford daily_user_summary.txt file will be the official source for points information.

6. Only team captains are allowed to make changes to rules and will be looking out for any "foul play".

9. We should not do anything that hurts the folding project. This includes but is not limited to, priming WUs and installing clients on machines without proper permission.

Yes, the maple leaf smiley is a part of the official rules ;p

Thus the new HWC handicap would become 301,917

Yes. The method of participation is the same as last year (we all fold for Beavers_Gone_Bananas).
