Actually, V7 has its own PPD tracker. I did some math and it seems to be quite accurate.

FYI: HD 6870 is over 7K PPD.

20-25% on a quad core i5 750 + 400MB of system memory.

That's pretty decent against NVIDIA I think. But NVIDIA still has the upper hand?

Depends. Are NVIDIA GPUs compatible with the v7 client and would they pull new WUs though it?

Since it was only a Client change for Nvidia it should have no effect on which WU's they receive or their ppd.

In that case, yes. NVIDIA still has the upper hand since a GTX 560 can easily hit the 13K - 14K PPD mark with GPU3 WUs.

So I've been away from my PC for about 48 hours now but before I went, I set up the new folding client on my 5850 at 765core\1125mem and just wanted to share the numbers.

This is the only WU I've gotten with the core16 (maybe the only one out there right now). I don't have any of the old core numbers to share because it has been a long time since I've GPU folded, but I don't recall them being anywhere near this. So at least its a step in the right direction for ATI\AMD card owners.

In comparison, my Q8400 @ 4Ghz gets me about 8k PPD also so in my case, I'm gonna stick with the SMP client until new WU's are released...then I will see if the numbers persuade me back to the GPU side.

It's great to see the OpenCL stuff coming out, even if it's not compatible with my GPU.
I'll continue to wait however - maybe when I burn my 4870 again (I undervolted the fan such that I'm 2 degrees Celsius away from errors if I run Furmark). I'll actually be able to choose between AMD and nVidia for a GPU.
