Default Seti@Home founder transfer request?

Did somebody here request ownership of the Hardware Canucks Seti-at-Home team? (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_...?teamid=137640)

I created the team quite a while ago when FAH was out of WUs in order to give us a place to put our excess processing power, but haven't been contributing to any boinc projects lately. Today I recieved a request to transfer administrative control over to a member who looks like they joined on the 21'st this month. I suspect it's an attempt to "steal" the account, but would be more than happy to hear from the member here if it's an active member.

I've got 60 days to approve/deny the request with the default being that ownership will be transfered automatically if I don't respond. I suspect the user selects teams with inactive founders in the hopes that the original email is no longer valid, and thus will gain ownership by default.

Was not myself, and I would have hoped that if it was legit, a moderator or myself would have been asked first.

So I think your theory is correct.

Well, there are only 6 active members, and one of those doesn't quite match up with the others.... I dunno... would it really be worth going through the trouble to change the points over to a different team name? (That's the only benefit I can see from it).

We'll see though. I've got 60 days to respond, and I dropped him a PM over on the Seti website.

Edit: That said.... if we've got an active member who's got control of the overall boinc team, I'd be more than happy to transfer admin status over to them.

I currently have the founder status for our Rosetta@Home project. I'm pretty sure each project is kept separate, rather than under one umbrella account.

I'm a founder for some projects for Canada, usally these requests are just to hijack the team.
Just deny it.

There apparently is a method of pooling separate boinc project teams into one.... BOINC-wide teams . I know nothing of the benefits, but would be willing to change the name / transfer admin rights if we wanted to do it.

As far as the request goes.... I've never heard of folks attempting to hijack DC projects, seems like a strange use of somebody's "leet" hacking/spamming skills.
