But for some reason I don't know, when the installation was done and it reboot, it doesn't boot in Linux (so at that point it was late and rebooted in Windows, get another bigadv unit and went to sleep. Next time I will try, I will make sure I have some spare beer

Except for one or two minor PEBKAC issues I found it quite easy to follow and I have never even looked at Linux before.

Figures the first -bigadv I get is a p2684...
So how well did it do w/ the P2684? I would like to know how Linux improves these damn WU's.

The gain on the P2684 was only ~4k ppd, but it lost a little time right at the start when I realized I'd forgotton to put the OC back on and had to restart it . Your hexes should see a bigger gain than my quads though.

She got a P6901 after which isn't finished yet but seems to be doing much better...

My i7 920 (3.8ghz) is working on a P2684 right now and I'm only getting 2700ppd. So you're miles ahead of me.

Thats because it's predicting you won't make the deadline. It is very close but I can run the 2684's on my 3.76 ghz i7 and I get in just before the deadline with about 19kppd. If you are running a GPU or something else that uses a couple % of the cpu it might make sense to tun it off until this WU is finished.

My 2600K got a 2684 WU last night....at least I think thats what it was, I'm at work. I am running Vmware in Win 7 and linux folding image. 2600K is clocked at 4.6 and was showing 47,500 PPD on that unit.

edit: it is a 2686 Wu...got my wife to check.
