Of course I'm folding on a stable system I have done a couple (3-4) bigadv units at that speed, so it's stable and quiet on a good watercooling setup

And I feel nervous about 1.37v on the core.

Time will tell, but I would be more nervous with 1.4V and temp @ 85C vs 1.45V and temp @ 65C....

Yep, air cooling sucks.
Back to water for me, whenever I can find the time to cut up my case.

NH-D14 hits 89C with the same settings, granted I did flip the fans around for my Lian-Li A05.
Clocking it down to 4.6 GHz for now so #1 I can test out my second 2600K on the P8P67 I need to return for RMA (advance RMA ftw), and #2 so I can see how high my 970 can get before it explodes.

EDIT:
Managed to clock my 970 up to 4.4 (25x176) on water running nice and cold. TPF has not improved one bit! I am underclocking the RAM at DDR3-1400ish @ 9-9-9-24-1T so maybe that's the reason?

I finally have my 2600k folding. It's at 4.5Ghz, 1.25v vcore.
I copied the same workunit from the 2600k PC to my 980x folding box.. and a bit disappointed with the results. The way everyone was hyping the 2600k stating it's the same (or damn close) as the 980x with rendering and such.. it's all utter bullshit to me.

i7 2600k @ 4.5Ghz, P6901 = 44k PPD
i7 980x @ 4.0Ghz, same WU = 62k PPD

The 980x is at 62% done, the 2600k is at 48% done currently. Both started at exactly the same time. I'll delete the 2600k workunit now (submit it with the 980x).

The only benefit to the 2600k, is when the GPU (GTX 580) is idle on a Gigabyte UD5, it sits at 170W.

I'm sure I could bump the 2600k to 4.7-4.8 (or 5.0, whatever) to match the 980x, but I wouldn't be comfortable running 24/7. On top of that, my 980x can do 4.2Ghz on air just fine.. 4.5Ghz on water, which would blow the 2600k away.

Do you run it with VMware? If it's so, it's low.. with 4.5ghz you should be able to do 50 000ppd on vmware. And to be able to reach 60 000ppd, you will need 4.9+ghz on vwmare. Unless you have a crappy cooler, you shoulf be worried at all running it at least to 1.35Vcore. If it can do 4.5 with 1.25V, you have a good one that may be able to do 4.8-4.9 @ 1.35V. Ram speed may help too (1600+)

How much is a 2600k compared to a 980x? And how about the power usage?

My 2600k @ 5.0 (1.42VCore) with VMWare does 60k ppd too; power consumption (per APS's app) is 273W at full load.

Both running Win7 home x64. Both using the latest windows client. Both systems running DDR3 @ 1600Mhz CL8 - the 980x has 6 gig, the 2600 has 8 gig (like it matters past 2 gig anyways) I wanted an apples to apples comparison.
Both are using CM V6GT coolers.. I run these boxes 24/7 folding, so I don't want to go crazy with the overclocks.
