Going the SR-2 is looking more likely now though. Even if I can't find a good pair of hexacores I might just grab a pair of these. Since overclocking w/ the SR2 is bclk limited I think these shouldn't have much of a problem hitting 3.6 - 3.8GHz.
Intel Quad-Core Xeon ES E5530 QGXW B0 2.40GHZ LGA1366 on eBay.ca (item 280583111334 end time 30-Nov-10 17:52:01 EST)
Nice price on those, and hitting 3.8 should be feasible.

I'm looking at a decent upgrade myself.....

I think I'll be waiting for a dual processor 'sandybridge' myself , with a similar mobo to the sr2...

3.0charlie, what have you decided to use for a case for the SR-2? I would love to use a bench table but alas it doesn't look like there are any available. And the available of cases that work with it leaves something to be desired as well.

Using the same case I have right now, Lili PC-A70. Should fit with minimal rework. You could also use a MM motherboard backplate as a base: MountainMods.com-Computer Cases-Parts-Motherboard Parts-Modular HPTX-SR2 Motherboard tray assembly

Any luck with the chips? More are available.

Edit: I got a FedEx tracking number 10 minutes ago...
Edit 2: FedEx estimated delivery: November 15th... whoa.

Currently having issues w/ Paypal not accepting instant bank withdrawls. Hopefully I can get it straightened out before the seller loses patience with me.

Damn, no luck?

And you're lucky, NCIX has a few SR2s in stock... which was not my case when I bought mine.
