Default Who Needs To Spend $200+ for 15K PPD?

Overclocked GeForce GTS 450 Getting ~15k PPD : Legit Folding

I'm running an overclocked ECS GeForce GTS 450 Black Edition video card that I have manually overclocked faster. I'm using it on my main office PC, which does video & picture editing and is used for most of the day. I also shut down the client for a few minutes here and there when i need to do some tasks on the GPU. Anyway, I hit 14,709 points yesterday. I was amazed by this, cut what amazed me more is that I can't hear the card as the fans are at 30% and the core is a full GPU load and hitting just 37-38C after two days of solid use inside a Corsair 800D PC Case.

Did I mention the card is overclocked? A stock NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 runs at 783MHZ core, 1566MHz shaders, 902MHz memory. I've got mine overclocked to 962MHz core, 1925MHz shaders, 1000MHz memory and to be honest they card might have more as I have pushed it to become unstable yet with F@H.

Just wanted to share with everyone... A GTS 450 has 192 CUDA Cores and when the are overclocked they put down some nice PPD numbers.

Some project Performance Numbers for you...

thats gtx 470 territory bro. 200 is a tad expensive, but considering the 30 dollar cooler, maybe not that much

Oh I meant that as saying you don't need to spend so much money to get 15k PPD. In America, it costs only $140 + shipping and tax.

You can grab eVGA GTS450s for $130 after MIR, which should be able to do 14.5k on stock cooling from what I've seen.

The MSI OC Cyclone models have been running $109 after $15 MIR for the last little while. And yes... we've documented 14.3 - 15.3K PPD on the 450s running at 975 core.

I picked a EVGA Superclocked for $120, should be interesting to see how it performs alongside my 460's & 470's. I'll know in a day or two. On my way home tomorrow. I expect there to be more price drops, it just may be the perfect $/ppd especially considering the power draw.
