Looks like 430s are good for ~7 to 8k:
[MPC] GT 430 - Folding Results - PPD/Power Usage - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

But I'm in the 'more cores' camp (I suspect some WUs will show up that will scale better), so I would go with 450s or even 460s, unless you are on a strict budget or need single slot cards.

I had this discussion with SKYMTL (Fermi cores/output) last night. At the moment the 611 WUs (10632) appear to be the only fermi GPU3 WUs that accurately reflect the folding capabilities of Fermi cards. All other WUs (912/925 pointers) seem to depend almost solely on GPU/Shader clockspeed which unfairly favours the GTS 450 cards WRT PPD.

Since the 10632 units are "test" units which are being used to get a handle on Fermi architecture/performance I'm sure that future WUs will tend towards the 611 units rather than the 912/925 units and thus will scale better on higher end cards.

That said... I'm personally betting on the GTS 450 cards being the PPD darlings for at least 6 months. ;)

Thanks for posting that Kilauea, looks like I ordered my cards just in time as they are sold out now.

I've heard that their RMA department is usually pretty helpful, but I have seen a few people have issues but nothing like the P.I.T.A. that is the XFX RMA department.
