I wonder how long an S3 Unichrome IGP would last if I had it on folding duty! LOL

2x GTX 280's - I bought 4x, and after running two on air, two on water.. the air ones died in about two months.

1x Q6600
1x Asus P5Q Mobo
1x Corsair 550W PSU
The story of above, was the CPU fan (on CM 212+) stopped spinning (I guess). I don't know if the mobo pins died, or something wrong with PSU.. but came home from work and the box was dead, and the PSU let the smoke out. You can never get the smoke back in! Tested everything in another computer.. and the only thing left standing was the RAM and hard drives...

You can buy smoke, not sure if this would work properly as it is wiring harness smoke....

[thread necro]

A combination of F@H and my desires for a decently quiet PC half-killed this card:

An ASUS Radeon 4870 DK TOP fitted with a Zalman VF-1000 with undervolted fan (as the stock DK fan couldn't be silenced without being stopped) started artifacting when I did F@H + games at the same time some time last month, prompting me to get my GTX 550 Ti. I called it quits on this card after it started getting NANs detected on GPU the same way the 4850 I owned before it did.
I don't fault the manufacturer because of how badly I butchered the cooling to quiet the card hehe...

Looks like my first folding casualty. Was fiddling around with 3820 overclock and the rig became unresponsive & I could not get into bios. I tried to clear cmos and now get the one long four short beep code, hardware failure. The boot device led on the mobo is now on, I tried mem ok and booting with one stick of/no ram, no video card but to no avail. I suspect the psu (in details) went but I have no replacement on hand damnit. Was going to get a new psu soon but now I am stuck out in the boonies with a dead rig. There goes 60k ppd...

I fried a memory module on my 5830 while folding with an OC a few monthes ago. RMA'd the thing, and have since sold the card.

My poor little Sparkle GTX 470 got lit up as a WU started up last fall. Luckily it didn't take the motherboard with it.
