Default GTS 450 PPD

Was just wondering what the PPD on these cards is... They are on sale for $120. this week locally. Was thinking of picking up a couple. Either that or a couple 460's. What is the best "bang for the buck" on these cards, the 450 or the 460. Cards will be used strictly for folding...

I would get 768mb GTX 460s for strictly-folding cards if you can afford them; they go on sale quite often too.

GTS 450 ~8000PPD stock; GTX 460 ~11,000PPD stock. I think the 450 will get around 9000PPD overclocked, and the 460s will get you 13-15,000 overclocked (based on cooling and volts, etc)

Dollar/ppd the 450 is technically a better Folding card, even with the sales, but not by much, maybe 2-4 PPD/$

Each card hovers around the 65 ppd/$. I personally still feel the 768 is a better buy, simply because of resale and gaming use will be better long term then the 450. Stress JMO however.

9960 PPD OC'd on standard 611 WUs, 14.5 - 15.3K PPD on the 925 cards.

I'm not much of a gamer, so I'm sold on the 450s being the card to get these days.

My vote would be for the GTS450s as well, with the 911/925 credit WU's they really fly. 14-15k on an air cooled card is about the same as an air cooled GTX460 can pull.

It's also the same as a 470 at 800/1600. 470/480 don't seem to see as great of a ppd increase with advmethods compared to the 460/450's

Lol well, the 450 owners are happy so you can't go wrong there. No doubt they are a good card, but I wanted the extra shaders.

Brand new card (installed 1/2 hour ago) First WU on my new MSI Cyclone GTS450 at stock (850/1700/2000) is getting 12,790 PPD on a 912 WU..... :)

So yeah... if folding is the primary concern, I'd say GTS450.

@sswilson

Do you happen to know how much power the 450 draws from the wall as well? I understand it's a function of the power factor, but I'll just assume an average efficiency. It's always good to know from actual users. Thanks.

Holy Cwap! My OC'd 470 @ 750 does 13k ppd. If it's for folding only, this would be the card to pick IMHO.
