i just ended up with a gt 240 outta a build fro a client that fell through and i have been playing around with it now out side of folding which i have not test it runs very cool and very quite and for no extra pci-e power needed it gets great fps for lower res like 720p and a little higher. xfx brand good build quality

I'd agree that the GT 240 1GB would be a great way to go for low power GPU folding. Performance per watt is probably at, or near the top of any card out there for F@H.

Another +1 for the GT 240 1GB

I bought 4x XFX 240 512M during an NCIX sale - and realized soon after (and a few other ppls results) that the 1GB makes a difference (by about 500ppd per card)
a stock 240 512M runs around 3800-4300 PPD.

Are they noisy when folding? I'm looking for a quieter solution than a 9800 gx2.....

A GT 240 would be quieter, but it would also produce less than half the points. If you want something similar, you'd be best off looking at a GTX275 or GTX285 to replace the GX2 with if you're willing to spend the money. That would get you about the same points production while reducing power consumption, heat, and noise.

Yeah I know it will produce half, but I'm no more folding with the GX2 because of the noise, and @ 70$ I can have 2 for the cash I could sell the GX2 on ebay.
