Default Setting up GPU folding with ATI and Nvidia in same machine???

I read through the FAQ on setting up multiple GPU but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

My situation is that I just got an Nvidia GT240 to use as a dedicated Physx card with my 5870. I am trying to see if I can get both cards folding. Anyone know if this can be done?

As a minimum, if I have to choose just one card , I would like to use the GT240 as the folding card.

Trying to help put us over the edge on the Chimp Challenge

Your 5870 is your primary, and should be started with -gpu 0, not 1. The GT240 is -gpu 1.

I tried that as well. See below.

The reason I thought my GT240 is GPU 0 is my GPUZ shows the GT240 as teh first card (see attached image). Is there a utility that tells me which is GPU 0 and which is GPU 1?

I don't know much about ATi Folding, but have you changed the .dll's as 10e suggested in another post;

Quote:
Also, if the above flag doesn't work, you might have to remove the AMDCAL*.dll or ATICAL*.dll files from the directory where you unzipped the folding@home GPU2 client.

This is because the DLLs are needed to provide the Brook CAL interface for the GPU2 clients, but these Stanford included versions do not recognize the HD5xxx series of cards even with the -forcegpu switch.

ATI provides them with the Catalyst drivers as well, so the version it installs by default work perfectly with the HD5xxx series of cards.

Regardless of CAL*.dll Driver versions, you must use the -forcegpu ati_r700 flag in your shortcut.

Happy folding!

With all those quads you have, just a single one would out perform the single gt240 and its a lot easier to set up.

I have my 4890 folding with a 8800gts, I found the -gpu # was off for me as well.. It finally worked right when I just used -forcegpu nvidia_g80 and -forcegpu ati_r700.

I got the same unstable machine error when I had it set as the wrong GPU.

I tried this again this morning using teh forcegpu flag. Same issue.

My 5870 was folding fine with the forcegpu ati_r700 switch. Now with the GT240 in there even the 5870 won't work

It is good to hear that your mixed setup is working though. At least it indicates that this is possible. I didn't want to spend too much tiome on this if mixed drivers was a non-starter.

I have tried the different combinations of gpu 0 and gpu 1 on both cards and can't get it working. I am at work now so I can't look into this until I get home tonoight. At least my Q6600 is still folding....

I tried for hours to get SMP to work on my Q9550 but it just refused to work. I had a thread describing my issues. I 'll try and dig that up.

I tried with the same combination, but I gave up. The GT 240 is folding at Zero's house :)
I fold with the 5870 + Q6600
