I don't see those files in my folding folder? I will have to do a search to see if they are stored elsewhere.

The thing is, the 5870 was folding fine before I added the GT240.

Dadi_oh,

Try the following to isolate which card is which. Don't worry about what GPU-Z says, as it may sort things in the list as it sees fit.

Assuming you have the ATI card in slot 1 as your main card in the box connected to the monitor, and (I'm assuming) you've removed or renamed the folding client's AMD/ATICALxx.dll files from BOTH clients, go ahead and remove the queue.dat file, work directory and fah_Corexx.exe files.

If the work/core files are there it may try processing a pre-existing work unit that is not valid (ie. an nVidia work unit if it's the ATI card or vice versa) for that particular client.

Start ONLY the first client with -gpu 0 -verbosity 9 flags. Take a look at the log file and check out which core it's using (either ATI or nVidia) it should download the correct one. The auto-detection algorithms should figure this out for ya.

This will tell you which card (ATI or nVidia) is card #1 or -gpu 0. Make sure you aren't getting UNSTABLE_MACHINE errors with that one.

If this works, then you can set the -gpu 1 (second folding) client to the opposite architecture either with the -forcegpu nvidia_g80 flag or -forcegpu ati_r700 flag.

Even in Vista/Win7 the nVidia card can work with the -forcegpu flag. I don't think the ATI card will work unless a monitor/dummy plug or KVM is connected to it.

Hope that helps.

Doh!

(loads shotgun... shoots right foot... reloads shotgun... shoots left foot... aargh.

I could remove the GT240 until after the chimp challenge and reinstall later I guess. Hopefully I haven't buggered my 5870 folding so that even if I remove the GT240 it still isn't working....

Thanks. Will try this tonight.

I did dlete the work folders from both but did not delete the fahcore files. Maybe that is the issue.

The GT240 has a dummy plug. My 5870 has 3 monitors hanging off it (eyefinity).

AH, that might be your issue. If you are using Win 7, unplug two monitors from the HD 5870, unplug the dummy plug from the GT 240 and try the suggestions listed above.

I thought that the dummy plug was required on the GT240 or else the Nvidia drivers disable it? Or are you suggesting keep 1 monitor on the 5870 and 1 monitor on the GT240?

The thing is, the 5870 was folding fine before I added the GT240 and the 5870 had the 3 monitors attached to it.

Yeah, you are right. I forgot the new NV drivers will disable the card.

I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread so far, but did you run the mod from Hybrid PhysX mod v1.03

I know that's needed to get hardware physx enabled anyway. Not sure if it would affect folding the same way or not.

Yes, that is the patch I used to get Physx running. In typical Nvidia style they disable Physx if they detect an ATI card in the system Fortunately, common sense prevails and there are workarounds.

Going to play some more tonight to see if I can get the folding working. Otherwise I may reinstall my UT3 and Mirrors Edge games to try out the Physx.
