Default Upgrade your Windows SMP Client If You Haven't Done So

Folding Forum • View topic - SMP announcements: be sure you have 6.29+ client

Quote:
We have moved SMP2 from advanced methods to full release. SMP2 and the A3 core will become the workhorse of our multi-core effort as we phase out A1 and A2. At this point, most of our older A1 and A2 projects are being finished (we're getting ready to start migrating bigadv, but the others are mostly done).

One important note to SMP users: ***please be sure you have 6.29 or later clients***
The assignment server will not give SMP2 work to clients older than 6.29, so if you have an older client you may not be able to download SMP work.

On a related note, as we phase out SMP1 we will offer a windows SMP client that doesn't need MPI. This should ease the installation process substantially.
Once the Windows SMP client doesn't require MPI, I'll be reinstalling the client. MPI makes life so much more difficult due to the use of passwords to log in.

The 6.29 version of the client has been required for -bigadv since the day it was released, and the A3 core always required it, so this isn't really news.

They're phasing out A1 and A2 WU so only A3 WU would be left. They run only on client version 6.29. This means that clients older than version 6.29 will soon become useless.

-bigadv folding works with linux only. What you're talking about is the use of advmethods.

-bigadv requires version 6.29 of the Linux F@H client. Once 6.29 was released (at the same time as 6.29 for Windows), -bigadv units were no longer issued to older client versions.
