I should create a website just for this question.

Fielded a good dozen responses to it so far :P

EOC is pulling on a CDT time schedule, we are pulling on a PDT time schedule. This means that their stats are 2 hours behind, or 1 hour ahead depending on when you look, so either we will have 2Hours of extra data, or they will have 1 Hour of extra data depending on who has is the most recent update.

What I don't get is EOC's estimation seems pretty off. 25 hours into the contest, it says EVGA currently has 7,687,315 points, but still 6.2 days away to completion. That doesn't seem right...

Maybe EOC based the estimation on weekly/monthly average PPD?

EOC usually bases their calculations for future performance on their average PPD. They calculate average PPD based on the last 7 days' (56 updates, every 3 hours) worth of data. As everyone ramped up for the competition, the averages will take about 7 days to come up. By then, EVGA will likely be done.

That's what I guessed.

Unfortunately this method does not work well for predicting short-term contests, such as this one.

Or use XP.
