Default Folding with a 5970

Hey all,

In the past for my 4870X2 i found a thread on OCN that had 2 folders i could download with everything pre-set for a 4870X2 to fold, just needed to download the folders, enter name, enter team number and start the 2 clients up.

Anyone know if one exists for the 5970?
If not, how can i make 2 isolated folders without installing anything on my PC to fold like that.

Thanks!

I know the ATIs suck, but ill do what i can do for the challenge. Might even setup for my i7. Just hate the process

no experience with them ati's in folding, but ppd wise you might get maybe a good 4k per core? :)

I presume that you're running Vista or Win7? If so, download this: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg..._Vista-623.zip

Extract that into two different folders. Set each one up and assign a different machine ID to each client through the advanced options part of the configuration menu. Make a shortcut to the F@H .exe file in each directory. Go into the Properties for each shortcut. At the end of the Target box, add -gpu 0 to one and -gpu 1 to the other, and add the -forcegpu ati_r700 flag to both. That should be all you need to get set up. Just launch the clients from those two shortcuts and you should be good to go.

As for the CPU, -bigadv would be the best way to get points out of it, but if you don't want to go through the trouble of setting that up and maintaining it, you can get a nice amount of points out of the standard SMP client as well by running A3 units that use the bonus program. Here is a guide to set that up: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...ion-guide.html

Every option that I didn't specifically mention in my last post can be left at its default setting.

What kind of PPD are you getting? And what clocks are you running on the card? I'll likely add my HD5970 for the competition as well.

Im on water so its really cool at 43C for the cores and hottest VRM temps at 48C lol

That's still a decent amount of points. Despite the fact that it's not as good as nVidia cards get, 7200PPD is nothing to sneeze at, especially if you add in your CPU. Plus, since you're under water I suspect you have some more overclocking headroom as well.

One more question, i reverted back to 10.3 drivers from 10.4 beta and starting up the folding client now crashes my system.

How can i reset the 2 folders back to default and start new WUs again? what do i have to delete in the folder?
