I'm sure the cards were designed to handle those temps... time will tell of course. The GTX 470 will probably be a better card for folding from a cost/performance standpoint . I'm sure a price war between ATI and Nvidia is looming... once the 470 drops to around $300. I'll be scooping one or two up guaranteed ... if of course they prove to be good and reliable folding cards...

Which is pointless to know without knowing how other cards will perform...

unfortunately i dont see much of a price war...hmm...it cost nv an arm and a leg to make these from ground up and because availability is not quite there....prices may stay as the yare..or increase? same with ati. they dont see fit to sell the few cards that are coming out at discounted rates, well wayy more discounted, as most reviews of the new nv ones put forward power and temps and noise...i can deal with the noise, i think, if its for folding.lol

No. How other (read existing) cards will perform using the GPU3 Client.

ATI cards have been a better deal for quite a while now... in terms of cost/performance and features... The GTX 470 changes that... I'm pretty sure ATI will retaliate by lowering it's prices... It's in a better position to do so. This may not force Nvidia to lower it's prices... but who knows...

The GTX470 would probably be the best bet, consumes the same power as a GTX285.... but 16K PPD at least?

That's not what I meant, and I wouldn't be too hopeful for a performance boost with ATI cards.
