that you could run from home without changing the breakers or anything like that? dual 1366 board with 8 pci-e lanes, evga one? or...maybe somethign even more extreme? :)

lets hear your thoughts. dude's 3.5k rig thread gave me the idea for this a one .

A really, really nice mod. Not even that great of hardware (i7 980X, Asus Rampage III, 5870's/GTX480's) but INSANE water cooling and laser cut/water jet cut designs and such up the wazoo. MM sleeving for everything, you name it. A real million-dollar PC.

I'd still be focussing on a GPU farm mainly for the redundancy. Too many horror stories out there about big-adv WUs crapping out.

My 275 does a pretty solid 8.5K average so that'd be a pretty decent starting point, although @ $200 difference / card between a 275 and a 9800GT I could probably build 2X full quad core 9800 farms and get the extra 7K SMP2 points as well.

Considering this is the [email protected] room http://smiliesftw.com/x/squint.gif

My system would definitely be an eVGA SR-2 w/ a pair of X5650's. 24 threads @ 4.2GHz would be pulling about 150,000ppd. :shok:

EVGA Classified SR-2 with a pair of Gulftown Xeons and some GTX480s.

question for you guys. the sr2 will fit...hm...3 dual slot cards right?actually 4 if you have enough clearance on the bottom....hmm.....million point machine? half a mil? lol

Even the fastest GPU only pulls like 15,000. If you want a folding only machine w/ no budget. CPU's are the sole way to go. Plus you need to run native linux/osx in order to take use of so many threads.

Right now you can't effectively break 100k PPD in a single machine. you can forget about 500k-1m.
