My System Specs

Default Issues w/ bigadv

This happens every 5 minutes or so

Using linuxrouter's 1.1 image. After this pops up, it restarts the WU. I have left it go all night long and it never resolved itself. I have 5.1GB assigned to the virtual machine, and I am pretty sure this is way more than it should need. I know the machine is stable as it can run 12 hours on OCCT linpacks. I have also reinstalled VM Player as well as a new fresh copy of the linuxrouter image.

I am currently trying the non bigadv smp in the virtual machine to see how it fairs.

EDIT: Same thing happens w/ just the regular SMP WU.

Don't use the latest vmware. It only supports 4 cores.

Ya I've done it. Same issues. And I am using the 3.0.0 version of VM Player so it sees all 8 threads.

I decided to give notfred's image a try. However I can't seem to change anything in the web configuration. After I save the new info. I reset the VM Player and it still has all the notfred's info in it.

I find linuxrouter's image to be easier and faster than the Notfred client.

Its way easier to use. I just can't get it to not error out all the time. I even tried just a SMP 7 it still won't work.

Couple of suggestions;
1. allocate just the default 4600mb (the default amount on the latest image)
2. re-install vmware, and a fresh vm machine. Don't install vmware to the "Program Files" directory, but another. Vista/Win7 can do strange things to the program files(x86) directory I am told
3. double-check to ensure virtualization is enabled in bios
4. optional: disable antivirus

I looked up your error messages, and a guy mentioned (in a similar, but not exact problem) about network card issues killing the "mpiexec" process, causing linux to enter a "zombie state" where child processes run without parent processes. I am not sure if this is your issue, since I don't know much about linux.

I'm not sure if there is a version of notfred's available that will work with -bigadv.

Well I tried out the linuxrouter image one more time, and it has actually got to 1% which is very odd. So maybe it decided to start working again.
