Default Does folding slow down internet?

Hey guys,

Been folding again with my i7 for the first time and I must say the PPD it outputs is amazing! :D

I was wondering if F@H is responsible for my slow internet or was it simply Vuze?

So can the WU fold even if there is no internet connection?

Thanks!

Folding does not actively use an internet connection. It does connect to Stanford to upload and download units, and with larger SMP units you may notice that the internet is slow until the upload is complete. However, while a unit is being folded, it won't have any effect.

Ditto to what Zero says, but I find that when I'm folding, it DOES slow down my Internet. It might be because it's using up my CPU and GPU resources so there's a bit of a lag kinda thing. Things don't run as smooth when I'm folding compared to when I'm not folding.

yes it might a touch, due to cpu scheduling - particularly with flash, which is a cpu hog

Lower the priority of your F@H clients then.

even lowering the priority doesn't completely help. scheduling slowness might still occur.

Already at the lowest priority. I think it's the GPU folding that causes the computer to be less smooth.

right on. itll delay it depending on what you do. some wu's you can play your blurays at the same time with, others will make it miserable :p
