Folding@home with WHS Does any know if its possible/safe to run a GPU folding@home on a WHS? I am thinking about selling off my second rig to help pay for a couple of new Fermi's (whenever they are finally ready) and sticking my 9800GX2 in my WHS to folding with. Any thoughts? |
whs....hmm....tries to remember what that is....something home server? |
oh sorry...Windows Home Server (32 bit) |
Yeah I was running my overclocked 9800 Gx2 on my WHS. Sadly, my POS PSU crapped on me :) I was asking for it running it on an antec earthwatt..... So has long has you have a good enough psu, go for it :punk: Ps. Whs works on xp Nvidia drivers... |
possible? if the install goes tru why not? safe? as long as the hardware to support the card is there, no worries. |
at least it did not take my backups ! |
don't run anything but WHS and tested plug-ins on your WHS. It can cause your boot drive to think it's faulty and the only way to fix it is a reformat. Trust me. I've done it like 3x before I found out about the bug. I was running the DivX connected server and F@H at the time. |
I run F@H cpu on my WHS. It's terrible because it's only 32 bit (with a dual core cpu.. :blarg:) I never tried installing a GPU client and putting a video card in - I figured it would break when you tried to load other drivers. |
