New to multi-GPU folding, quick setup questions... So, as some of you know from a couple earlier threads, I'm going to be running 2x GTS250's folding from my secondary PC soon. I just want to go over the basic setup, so correct me if I'm wrong: I'm going to need to install a single GPU first, then install the second GPU (with a dummy plug) as an extended desktop? (I think that's what I read in the dual GPU guide) However I'm a little uncertain as to how that works without installing the drivers as the guide says. Am I just going to be running 2 cards with a single set of drivers? Also, I'm assuming I should NOT be installing the SLI bridge? (Sorry if these questions are obvious, but I've never run multiple GPU's outside of Xfire/SLI) Second, this machine will be used for general use by my wife. She's going to be downloading, surfing, etc., on it. (No gaming) This won't be an issue while folding correct? |
Tell her I'm concerned that her downloading, surfing, etc on it will impede the folding... |
You can just turn down the the client that is running on GPU0 to around 90% usage, that should resolve any stuttering if there is any. |
Anyway, what OS you running? |

I'm assuming he's going to be Win7. If you need resistors for the dummy plug Caldezar, I've got some.... and I can bring you that nice psu I have. |
It's running Win7 Ult. 64. As for the dummy plug, not sure what I need for that. Is it just home made via cutting the end off an old DVI-e cable? |
i have no experience with multi gpu folding but what about this http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...tml#post318022 |

Yep the dummy plug is not needed. You need to make sure you check out the original post in that thread, and make sure you add the flags in the screenshot. |
Except the P5K I was going to run this on isn't an SLI board... |
