Whoa. My max ppd was 3050 under vmware with that chip. It's an amazing one, isn't it? Is yours running cool too at 4.25GHz?

Not particularily cool. Maxed out at 59c under water 8 hours orthos.

Rig just crapped out (rebooted). I think the Vdimm I was using to get 4-4-4-10 was just too much for it to sustain folding.

I'm dropping FSB down and multi up to see if the memory works better on something other than 1-1.

Under water, right? I was getting 51C at 4.0, and 57C at 4.3 (from what I can recall). I'd say that 59C is still very well within that upper limit (I had 65C).

Vdimm? How's the secondary timings? Or drop to 4-5-4-10? That chip is amazing for folding once passed 4.25GHz ....

I'm still sticking with at least 4250 if I have to hook up a car battery to it.... :)

I'm currently running FSB 475 which puts the mem down to 950 4-4-4-10 allowing me to drop the Vdimm down. It might also get me a little extra headroom on the processor just in case it was the memory or FSB which was holding me back. (Trying like mad to finish off the orphaned WU before it crosses the "prefered" limit. I've only got a little over 1 hr left :) ).

Now that I'm down to a dual core on the giga board, I might swap out the 4G ballistix for my 2G Supertalent. I really only had the extra 2G in it to allow me to run 1G+ for each VMware instance.

475x9? You might be pushing it. Try 500x8.5. I remember that my chip really liked that .5 multi. And dropping 2 sticks will surely help the board.

That's what I had originally, and getting 4-4-4-10 was taking 2.3 Vdimm which is too much for these ballistix over any length of time.

I'm currently getting 8min 7sec out of the 475 setup. I'm going to do some proper stress testing once I get the WU sent off before the deadline, but I'm hoping I might be able to push the CPU a bit more and still keep the mem under 1000 which will allow me to stick with 2.2 Vdimm. (I've got a spotcool in my cart, along with a 120 thermochill that I'm thinking of throwing onto the bottom fan of my cosmos s :) ).

Gotcha. Time to play will come once the WU is sent.

I still don't understand why the Ballistix don't like 2.3V+. My Mushkin EMs have been fed with 2.3V for months while folding at 1000MHz - 5-5-5-15, mind you.

My ballistix have never played well with anything more than 2.2V. I keep forgetting that every time I work on a new OC and try to push the mem to match the OC. :)

"last 3 frames" is reporting 3135.34 for this configuration but it remains to be seen if it's fully stable or not.

This kind of tweaking is one of the reasons I fold. I like to squeeze every last bit of processing power out of my rigs and FAH gives me a good benchmark as to what does and doesn't work.

Think I've got my stable folding OC going now....

FSB 478, Mem 4-4-4-10 1:1 2.2V, CPU 4302 1.475V (Cores 49C, 41C)

Drumroll please....... :)

Finally broke the 8 minute mark!!! :)

7min 57sec.

You are now officially in possession of a monster chip. It's just an amazing number, for the chip's speed vs. temp vs. Vcore. 7:57 on 2605! I'm starting to regret trading that chip...

But 1.475V Vcore... keep a close eye for silicone degredation - my personal limit was 1.45V.
