Agreed. I just picked up an HX850 recently and it is very quiet.

500W is without a doubt enough. It seems to be the 'in' thing to over estimate how much power computers need. 2 HD4980s and an i7 @ 4.4GHz consumes less than 400W. Put a kill-a-watt on your outlets that your PC is attached and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprise. Ok 500W may be pushing it a bit. But 550W would be enough

From nvidia site, each GTS 250 draws a max of 150W.

4x 150W = 600W..

500 is enough?

I too am going to say 850W. 750W being borderline. 500? Nope! Not for me...

I agree that the power requirements of computers today are greatly exaggerated... That said, I've always believed it doesn't hurt to have a little extra so that you are not pushing your psu close to it's maximum output. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running all that gear with a 550 even a 650, although it may very well get the job done. Better safe than sorry

I wouldn't be too confident with a 500W sitting in there.
My APC shows 496W from my system ATM.

1 EVGA 9800GX2
1 EVGA 9800Gt
1 965BE.
1 HDD, 1 Optical
10 Fans.

Not sure I'd want to put 4X GTS250s' in on that to be honest.
Espically if you are going up to the max capacity you will shorten the life of it for sure.

If you want a good budget one, the Silverstone Strider Plus 750W is a good price now and its 60A on the 12V rail with 80PLus Silver.
I have one right now and I wouldn't look back.

Take the PSU efficiency in to that as well. Assuming 80% efficiency you are only pulling ~ 400w from the PSU. Is your CPU overclocked? This will also make a huge impact on power usage.

Corsair HX650W will be enough. 500W is pushing it, though doable.

80 Silver (HX750W).

No Overclock.

I wouldn't be putting a 500W in that system even if it would run it. Putting a PSU that close to its Peak Output is asking for trouble no matter what.
