Default More GPU memory better ???

Quick question. For folding purposes, is it better to have 1gb instead of 512mb?

No. More shaders and faster shaders is more useful.

I haven't seen anything to suggest 1GB is better than 512MB, but it might help if we start getting more WU's like the 548 pointers...

it would be nice to benchmark the same exact wu on the same exact card but 512mb/1gb difference :)

That was the exact reason I was asking.

It doesn't make a difference. GPU workunits aren't large enough to even saturate a 256MB card from what I've seen.

Guys, use GPU-Z. It tells you the gpu/memory usage on the card. I've never seen a WU use more than 450Mb.

Edit: my apologies, it doesn't report memory usage on all cards. Just some of them.

Here is gpu-z screen for my gtx 260 896mb, the program was running in the background for like 12 hours. As you can se the max usage was 543 mb. I dont know if this helps, but i dont think more memory would make much difference, the client would just probably use more RAM.
