The Pain Of Withdrawel

18 hours with no Folding, no HWC, no EOC stats and no Morning Coffee makes for a very unhappy Folder.

The National Capital Region got hit by a ton of freezing rain last night and of course the hydro went out. It lasted from 9:00pm till around 4:00 this afternoon and the lack of the comforting hum of all the fans from 6 gpus and 16 case fans was deafening.

What made it even harder was the power coming back on at ~2:30AM just long enough for me to get all systems Folding again and get back to bed before going out once more.

The loss of all the WU's that could have been was painful.

I hope none of you ever have to go through this...

I've been fold free for about 8 or 9 days and i tell you, it doesn't get any easier. It just gets harder, i wish residence didn't make us unplug ALL of our electronics fur the winter break. I'm and the team is losing out on 30-35k ppd

Not sure I could deal with that.

While my withdrawal is not on your scale, I do empathize.
I've had a nagging pain ever since I swapped out my 275 (9k ppd) for the 5850 (crap ppd).
I finally had enough and I'm now swapping out my i5 for an i7 860 (so I can keep my 5850) and try some bidadv. That should relieve my pain.

It's finally starting to wear off after checking almost every site I know just for the fix.

You will like that 860, you're going to love the ppd. Just make sure you've got 8GB of ram for the -bigadv units...

well i had power fluctuate a lil bit earlier with the freezing rain but not like your case. hope you maintain sane through these difficult hours :)
