My System Specs

Unhappy A little interupption in my bid to icrease my folding capacity.

As some of you know I was in the process of building a dedicated folding rig. I had it in a techstation and put it in a roughneck container to take along with me while I was working out of town. My intention was to get everything installed and get the GTX 260 folding as I did have internet access and free power. I bought another GTX 260 from NCIX and had it sent to my residence and was going to buy another one from MemX on my way home. Everything was going swimmingly according to "the plan" I finally got days off, loaded up and headed home, a 7 hour drive. I was on a two lane divided highway doing 110 kmh speed limit, the road was dry and the night was clear and cold. Not a hint of fog for 4 hours. I noticed some fog up ahead, kicked out the cruise and decelerated to about 90 kmh as I entered the "fog" Within 5 truck lengths the fog, which actually was smoke thickened so much I literally could not see. I braked as hard as I could, got the truck down to about 60-70 kmh while I desperately looked for highway lines to indicate where i was in relation to the roadway then........BANG! I hit something that I could not see! I came to a rest with the contents of my truck in disarray and my glasses gone to who knows where. I knew I was okay and I started fumbling for my safety glasses which I knew were in the console beside me. I looked up to see a set of headlights coming at me fast...WHAM! I got hit by another vehicle and spun around with my drivers door now facing oncoming traffic. Before I could do anything another set of headlights appeared and POW! I got hit just behind the drivers door. I was no longer concerned about my glasses, I unbuckled my seat belt and crawled out my broken window and raced out and hid at the front of a semi b-train that had stopped in the middle of this smoke. I had survived the initial crash but was getting battered by all the other traffic. Turns out the semi driver could not see, so he stopped in the middle of the road, leading to the chain reaction. Among all the damage was my folding computer, things do not look good for it.

Oh wow . That's terrible dude.

Look on the bright side though, at least you're okay, and that's all that matters.

Since it's that time of the year again, I vote to hold a community donation!

Seriously not cool. Its great that you're okay though, that semi driver is an absolute moron for not pulling over...

Not a bad idea : donations. It wasn't your main pc though?

I am thankful you were able to walk away from that. That's a serious crash. You are fortunate, my friend.

Thats worth +10000. You had someone/thing watching over you. You walked away unhurt? Incredible!

I think that truck is a write off, however. Hope its not coming off your paycheque!

As long as you are all right that's what matter's, it's a good thing you were in a truck instead of a car.

Don't worry about the Folding, we'll keep some WU's for ya.

Take care of yourself first...
