Default PS3 on for folding

Hey guys, I'm little bored to set my folding back again all the time i change computer part...and god know it happen many time a month. So I would like to set my PS3 for folding. But first I have few question.
- How many PPD can a PS3 get?
- Do I need to put a fan aside to prevent heat or she can handle that.
- Dos some people have experienced broken PS3 and thing like that after folding for a time.
- Do I have to close the folding while playing or it will auto adjust.

Thx for reply guys!

Ive folded for a week or two on my ps3. Fan is unessecairy it doesn't get too hot and I have no problems as for ppd it is like 900 from what I've heard which is why I don't since 200watts fr 900ppd isn't worth it

back in the day they were great producers, but from what i see around the net, as mr goalie has stated, they eat a lot of watts to produce it. havent hooked up my killawatt recently to one tough.

My PS3 slim pulls about 1k PPD. It's not worth having it on, IMHO.

Yes, they used to be good for folding since 900-1000 PPD was good, but now, for the amount of power they use - it's not worth it. If you can afford to do it then sure why not. And yes you have to exit it to play games. It's actually called Life With Playstation which includes some other features like news and whatever else. You can set it to start automatically when the PS3 is running Idle if you wish.

The PS3 not great when it comes to folding but its hassle free. My PS3 has done 916 WUs so far and counting. 900-1000ppd is not much but it adds up. If your going to use yours to fold with just make sure you blow out the dust every once and a while. My PS3 was manufactured date is Dec 2007, And runs almost 24/7 and never had a problem. My PS3 should have done way more WUs but it was just out of range of the wireless router so it would get stuck trying to send results (Sometimes it would find the router but if not I would have to shut off the PS3 and restart it for it to find the signal after it lose the signal). But I moved everything to the basement and now gets a nice signal so its folding like crazy, Without having to babysit it. I hope when the new PS4 comes out its better at folding.
