I got it working, turns out Jake forgot to give me a step that the guide told me that was causing all the issues.

There are actually a few differences, since the guide on Hardforum has been updated since.

I can't remember what are 'safe' folding temps for GTX 260. Currently primary one i've seen go up to and not past 79, secondary one is a nice breezy 60-65C.

I'm not comfortable over 70, and 80 is my absolute max. YMMV, and they start to throttle when they hit 105. Don't ask how I know.

Not comfortable over 70? That's pretty paranoid.

When you've cooked as many parts as I have lately, your comfort level might change too. And that's also why I tend to WC my cards, and try to keep load temps in the 30's and 40's. Like I said, the Nvidia cards thermal throttle at 105. I found that out when a fan failed on my GTX260, and everything I've read since agrees. Now that the OP knows that, he can determine his own comfortable max load temp.

I thought i'd ask because i was feeling that under 80 or even 85 was good since its still no where near the throttle. I agree, that's the same paranoia with people and getting their i7 920s under 70 at full load. The things are designed to last a long as time, even if running it under 80 shortens its life by 2 years for arguements sake, the chip (not mobo) is design to last 10+ years. Whose going to be using an i7 920 in the year 2019, i sure as hell wont be.

Well, I've never had any hardware fail on me due to temperatures, and I run everything pretty much at the ragged edge. YMMV of course, but I've had my Q9550 and 4870 running at temperatures that some people would consider dangerously high (although they aren't) nearly 24/7 for over a year and they're perfectly fine.
