Their's a lot of people Still folding with PS3's. Team Default (#1 In PPD but they do not count) has the PS3 as #1 for PPD on their team with 1,560,576 PPD and 1,634,344,100 Points total. And thats just the people using them that not on a team. I try to keep the PS3 clean and dust free, With any luck it will fold forever.
Edit: As for the heat, thats what I want this time of year. I'm heating my room with my PC ( 550Watts) and PS3 (140 Watts I think), Far less than the 1000-1500w baseboard heater. WTF ()

I added my PS3 last week. Seems to be good for about 1k ppd. I never had my HTPC folding, so it's better for the team this way.

Didn't the PS3s produce more points than they do now ? Is 1k ppd worth what is spent on power usage for 24/7? Just curious guys.

The PS3 is under 200 Watts so that less than 2 100W light bulbs. And light bulbs dont fold so I shut them off when I'm not using them to give me more power for the PS3. So lights off, Playstation 3 on and everything is good. How many people have a couple extra lights going ? and do they see a huge jump in hydro? Probably nothing to complain or worry about.

I don't think they produced "more" points, it's just that the state of folding clients at the time had PS3 clients putting out the most possible PPD. At that time many folks were still using the standard CPU client, and even the SMP was putting out less than 1K PPD.

Here are the two rigs that produce most of my PPD:

My main rig (Desky) is in the Haf at the left, and my folding rig (Foldy) is in the 900 on the right. Foldy is dusty right now due to neglect (life is nuts right now).

There is an older UPS behind the desk that may need to go. No matter what I do Windows 7 shuts down the rig when the power goes (which is every day the missus uses the microwave). Every day I have come home this week the folding rig is off Grrrrrr.

OTOH it is a great excuse to go UPS shopping!
