Here's the half-assed, Athlon 64 3500+ rig built from old pieces of a 2005 Compaq SR1614. I neede somewhere to put the 8800GS since both my rigs now have ATI cards and I find it's not worth the hassle. A long time ago, I drilled all the rivets out of the case to get at the motherboard tray so I could use it to test motherboards having issues. I kept everything else but the plastic front and 5 1/4" bays. So, I put the side panel back on, laid the case on it's side, put the mobo tray on top and mounted everything down in the bottom. I love my Dremel.

one thing I thought I'd mention is that I had no heatsink for the CPU. I did however, still have my 4870x2's heatsinks. With a little help from my Dremel and a finishing sander, I sanded the base of one of the heatsinks to nearly as flat as I could get. I took the plastic mounting piece off the mobo and slid it over the heatsink and screwed it into the backplate. For the hackjob it is, I haven't seen the thing go over 40C.

And the last part, sadly the thing keeps freezing on me and I have no idea why. Probably the RAM.

The 56k warning is there for a reason I'll try to get some normal sized pics I guess though.

And done.
