Default what do you guys think?

im waiting on my x4 620 and giga dual pci-e board.thinking to rop dual 260 gtx's(need to find a stock cooler for the water cooled one i got from pierre).but at the same time i could pick up kyle's 4pci-e board and drop in 4x8800gt's

and ask bm here, those things give you very good ppd if the shaders are up there...

AFAIK you can run both 260's as well as 2 8800gt's.

Yes, I have three of 'em, should be real easy to put the shaders at 1500 at just forget about 'em. Try a lil higher if ya like but YMMV. Leave GPU and memory clocks alone. Mine seem very consistent at 7K PPD. No slouch given the low and ever decreasing price in the lower 48. Waiting to see how well the hotrodded 275's compare. EVGA and BFG both excellent with lifetime warranties but the EVGA's strike me as having a bit higher overall build quality, if that is important to you.

I'm new to nvidia vid cards, don't understand the various families and such yet, but I like that idea.

I've got 4 9600 GSOs which hopefully will be arriving tomorrow. Probably put out between 12K - 15K all together, but that's a hell of a lot better than what I'd have gotten spending the same amount of money on a single higher end card. (some of us have to live off of a pension.... ;) ).

Heh.... I've been back to work for 4+ months now, but still living within my "we could get by on this pension" budget when it comes to hardware. :)

I'm still a young pup (relative). Retired from the military with a 54% pension after 27 years and then took a year hiatus. Picked the wrong freaking time to retire though for my skillsets... I retired as an aircraft mechanic, and figured I'd be able to get into a job at a light manufacturing plant working on the gear.... recession kinda took the wind out of those sails. ;)

I feel for ya man. I know a lot of folks in the same boat. Timing was just a little bit off, the plan blows up. Hell my older son just left the navy after 10 years and can't find diddly squat for a job in avionics, or even parachute rigging!! THAT took me by surprise.
