Ya, I was trying to get folding working with Ubuntu and then Suse but havn't had any luck.

I'm only running the 1 machine ATM but will get the other one up again soon and will add more in the coming weeks.

Which ubuntu were you trying? on what mobo?

I have used a mixture of 6.06, 6.10 and 7.04. Did the livecd boot?
Sometimes a different cd drive will work if that is where the problem is.
I have also had to throw old pci nic's in when the onboard marvell's were not supported/working ... on a lot of my p965-ds3's. Asus mobo's I have seem to not have the nic problems.

Heh... PPD isn't actually down all that far, it's just not looking good because of the last week.

I think I've found a happy place for my main rig so it'll be back up and running tomorrow after a 12hr+ orthos run for stability.

My production should improve a bit soon ... one of my rigs folding for hcf is about to get upgraded from a 930D.

And maybe i can convince matching to donate some more wu's.

But it sure would be nice if 4door came back, gav gets his farm going, and we can get a few more new folders going with us.

pscout's old E6400 is folding big time, but the E2140 has been slowed down, since I'm using an ECS mobo... I'm on the hunt for another DS3L... or a G33? Are they any good at oc'ing, even with on-board video?

The g33m-ds2r oc's pretty well. I don't think quite as well as ds3r/l but decent - i haven't done some cpu swaps into mine to see if i get same oc as on the others tho. It is a bit pricey too ... similar to a ds3r. But it is convenient to have usable integrated video especially on a caseless rig.

I have read that the p5k-vm is ok too but i am kindof sour on the p35 asus mobos ... lack of ps2 port for my trusty kvms, and 20W+ higher power consumption at 100% folding load. Also, one of my G0's needs 1.425v to run 370x9 on a p5k vs 1.375 on the ds3r.

I expect the p5k-d model is better since it eliminates vdroop, but i think it still has the 20w disadvantage, missing ps2 port, and costs a lot more. If i was willing to fold at >> 1.4V i would probably give it a try since it may be the best current quad overclocker. But it also costs 2x more than a ds3l.
