Without hearing the sound myself, I can't say anything for certain. Some people have described the G200 series as making beeping noises, others have described a buzzing whine. GPU squeal itself is becoming more and more common, even though it is unpleasant. It's simply an indicator of heavy load and has been mentioned on both Nvidia and ATI cards. Whether or not yours is GPU squeal or something else I can't say. One other thing to try is people have mentioned unplugging their computer from their uninterpretable power supply has fixed the issue. Do you have a UPS / battery backup? If you do, please try plugging straight into the wall and see if the beep / squeal / what have you goes away.

6800PPD isn't necessarily out of range, though the credit of that work unit would help in seeing if something is wrong. 353 point work units on a GTX 260 can earn between 6300 and 7500 depending on your overclock. It could also be more or less. 511 point work units would drop you closer to 4000 to 5300. Also, if your card is a 216SP or the 192SP original makes a difference too.

the credit is listed 1880. the project is 5914. the card whines like it beeps, whines for a second then stops, whines again then stops...with intervals of 1-3 seconds.

Try stopping the GPU client, and delete the core (fahcore_11, fahcore_14), queue.dat, and work folder. This should trigger a fresh core download.

The UPS suggestion is interesting too.

Alright, I frequently see 1888 point work units pull between 6400-6800 on my GTX 260 Core 216s. I'd say you're about in line with where you should be PPD wise, its just a case of fixing / identifying the buzz / whine / beep.

I re-iterate what I first mentionned.

Your ppd is fine as-is.
Your card may not always whine, some WUs (420s, 472s) folded in strokes of 2-3 seconds each.
Your WU was totally normal to me.

in the beggining it did not fold at all, it started only after i reistalled the client and my ppd was 6000, now that is 25% decrease wrom what i was getting all the time. i didnt know that ppd could get that low. Now i am 1 step further from being a folding@home noob :). Thank you very much for your help and time, again :).

My old 8800 sounded like a phone was ringing far away,Not all the time but when it was it was in intervals of 3 seconds,I never did find out what was going on with my PC but I folded almost 24/7 with it anyway and nothing happened. As long as its not driving you crazy,I would think it will be OK.

All of mine do that here. If you really want to drive yourself insane, overclock your cards.... :help:
