Default F@H + XP = sluggish/laggy web surfing?

I just notice i am getting terrible screen lag when Console GPU client is running in the background And it goes away when client is shut down.

Are you XP home users seeing the same problem?

I notice the GPU Client doesn't effect Vista Ultimate

anyway to fix the problem with some drivers or fixes?

currently using nvidia 185.85, XP with all updates.

I find this happens to me sometimes with the gpu client and Windows 7, though i chalk it up to the fact i'm OCing the card, but i never thought it could be the drivers

I dont use the console client but I would suggest reducing the usage percentage to about 90-95%, you wont notice any problems then, slight reduction in ppd, but you will be able to watch videos and surf without issues. I had the same problem in xp, not using the same drivers as you, so I dont think thats the issue.

GPU client causes Windows XP to lag. It's a very common problem. Turning on Windows Aero in Vista and Windows 7 makes the lag virtually disappear.

and since window 7 is so close by i don't want to spend $$ for another vista license
hopefully my pm when though and a certain person still wants to go ahead for the deal

Just install Windows 7 RC.

You can also go to Folding Forum • Index page and find the new, beta, un-released 1.19 core. With that core, you can set the GPU usage via environment variables. The downside is that your PPD will drop, but so will your lag and temps.

used to happen to me when I had a GTX285, actually it used to lag doing pretty much anything while folding with that thing. Should have seen me trying to open azureus, omg it just wouldn't work lol. Back on my old 3870 I get no such problems, albeit I get so few points in comparison.

I don't seem to have this problem on XP, I use 64bit though.

Ok i update to nvidia drivers 186.18, it seems the lag screen is cut in half

but the screen lag is still there and its annoying as hell

might go hunt for a xp 64bit since i am not a fan of beta stuff

and pfft, i though nvidia had good driver support there no different the other team

if ati ever run F@H as good as nvidia, good buy nvidia
