ATI Question

Recent build for a friend, I'd like to get folding setup for him on his 4870 x2. It's running vista 64, as this is the first pc I've ever used an ati in I'm unsure about a few things.

1. Can I extend the desktop without a dummy plug?
2. Safe temps are the same as nvidia correct? Under 80 is nice, 90 max or so.
3. Same methods as I use on multiple cards can be applied to a multi gpu card ie folder's gpu-0, gpu-1

1. Don't know. I don't understand (never heard of this).
2. Yup. Silicon is silicon.
3. Yup. Just remember to use the ATI client.

You probably have to use ATI Tray tools in order to Disable crossfire, thus using each GPU independantly. I think its more efficient that way... or something. lol.

On vista don't you have to use a dummy plug to make use of the second GPU? I wasn't sure if this applied to dual GPU cards.

You will need a dummy plug or 3 resistors to simulate a monitor.

ATI Stock fan profiles are less then ideal, concider using riva tuner and setting up a personal profile to keep that beast cooler.

That is a tremendous card for folding, let me know what your getting for ppd when you get it sorted out
