My System Specs

Default What kind of PPD should I be getting?

Hey all,

I installed the gpu and the SMP clients according to the instructions, and set up Fahmon, but I think something is wrong as my PPD seems extremely low compared to some of the numbers I've seen reported here. Here is my setup:

E8400 OC'd to 4Ghz, 444FSB
Radeon 4850 625core, 1000mem
8Gig DDR2-1000 (Mushkin Redlines & G.Skill)

I have Vista x64, with the SMP client, I can see in task manager it has 4 copies of FahCore_a1.exe running. it has the -smp and -verbosity 9 flags.

Avg. Time / Frame : 36mn 35s - 692.77 ppd

--- SMP --
Min. Time / Frame : 2mn 21s - 514.72 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 2mn 32s - 477.47 ppd

The GPU client ranges anywhere from 1100 to 2300 max.

it's the SMP client that I know is certainly not up to par.

Thanks in advance for any advice that can help.

Hmm, my Q6600 (2.4ghz quad that is, running stock speed) is running about 3500ppd as far as I can tell (at least 1920 point WUs complete in about 13 hours typically). Of course I am running Debian 64bit. Folding@home doesn't seem to bother the tv recordings (mythtv), or bittorrent, or any of the other stuff the system does.

I do need to get a quieter fan than the stock intel though (I just ordered a TRUE 120 yesterday for it).
