GPU suddenly went berserk at 8am today while folding;

My tech. is closed on mondays so i have to wait

Will be back folding asap.
Can't do Rosetta@home either.

The gpu works ok only when it's working at it's lowest speed:

Not suprised to see some failures during this stretch. I'm on my second GTX280 not to say that folding was the cause of the first failure, but could of very well lead to its demise over the longterm.

Gellidius keep an eye on your temps, typically I had to have my GTX280 fanspeed ramped up to around 85% on stock cooling, when I went to bed it was full on 100% because if one of those 511 units came on along while sleeping I would see temps around 85oC. The stock cooling does do a better job of cooling the VRM(s) than the HR-03GTX but be mindfull that they get pretty hot during instense folding. It never hurts to have an extra fan blowing in the area of your videocard.

Regards,

the gpu temp never went above 70-72C because i programmed the fan with RivaTuner; so temperatures were certainly not the reason.
I'll know in the next few days and report back.

Worst case, BFG has great RMA support and their warehouse is in Kanahwake - South shore of MTL.

Sounds like a dead GPU. Did you try to run some benchmarks - Furmark, 3Dmark06 - for stability?

i can't even play a movie on VLC!

When i set up the gpu, then i used Furmark to check stability; after that it was always stable while folding or anything else.

I mean now, or today since the GPU crashed, have you tried Furmark - 3Dmark06? If either fail, then it's time to RMA the card.

I just tried Furmark;
At the instant i clicked on "start", the screen went black and after a few seconds i got a nice pure red colored screen,
nothing more, nothing less.
On reboot, i got those beeps: one long and 3 short ones, meaning: no vga detected.

Time to RMA. Explain exactly that in the problem description. You'll have a new card in a week.
