I should add that I've got the shaders on my 9800 GT up around 1800 and on my GTX 295s at around 1400

I got 7 out of 8 cores doing 511's, the faster we get through them the faster we get back to the easier ones....

WU 5904 (1680 points) is even more brutal than the 511s. Drops my PPD down to under 4K.... :(

The 511 pt work units aren't looking much prettier on the ATI side of things either. My 384 pointers give me ~3100 PPD, the 477 point WUs give ~3700 PPD, and the 511 drops me to a pretty constant 2581 PPD. The heat is about the same for me (Asus EAH4870 TOP "underclocked").

(note that all of these numbers on my 4870 are significantly lower than what you're complaining about on your nVidia cards )

On the bright side of things, my Pentium 4 with the uniprocessor client is getting 300 PPD from Double Gromacs C work units, instead of the 80-120PPD it usually got with the other Gromacs WUs.

Haha the good ol' 511s.

On the bright side, if your gpu OC can survive one of those then your OC is a stable one.

weird guys,

when i get the 511 Work units, GPU temperature drops to from 63C to 60C and no more high pitch screech But the 9800gt works the same way with any other WU except for the 1888wu types.

i think my xfx 8800gt is on crack.

Yea those 511's do suck as they tend to have longer work times

I'm not totally positive yet, but I think I may have found that what you said is not true, unfortunately.

My overclock on my 260 216 is 756 core/1512 shader and it's been working reliably through all types of unit's for 24/7. The only time it's not doing that is when I decide to game and then I pause it for that time only.

Problem is, since the overclock I have had at least one crash in a game that seems to be attributed to the overclock. This game has never crashed on me before and this was the type of crash where I had to power off at the PSU for 30 seconds to even get the video card to display something other than a garbled red screen

I do have to admit that an underwear change was in order after it finally decided to POST again.

I'm waiting eagerly for the Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME GTX 2x0 VGA cooler, then I'll be able to find out for sure with long tests.

Right now my fan is on 100% so I can fold with this OC. I really can't wait for that cooler.

NP Perineum...I was referring generally to folding and not gaming, but it is a pretty good stress tester in any case. Generally, if your card survives folding, it is stable. In fact, many cards that can survive gaming and even GPU stress testers cannot survive folding at home, and the 511s are the toughest test in folding.
