Want to save Electricity while Folding with your Videocard??? Follow these Steps!

Alright first things first this only applies for those of you that fold with your GPU only:


1. Underclock your cpu for example if you have a E8400 running @ 3.0ghz use software such as Asus Six Engine to underclock your cpu to 1.3-1.5ghz. I recommend this approach rather than doing a bios because this way if your ever in need of more power if your watching a movie bam a click of button you got yur power back. This will not slow down your ppd.... the new wu's take very little cpu power.

However the more tasks your running you will see a hit so underclock it with the mind set of how many tasks your doing. I leave my cpu at 1.5ghz almost 24/7 and the most i have ever gotten hit was around 200 ppd when i had many tasks running.



2. Underclock your Videocards CORE and MEMORY, You can underclock your Core and Memory this will keep the card running a bit cooler and these two do not reflect your ppd.

3. Only overclock your Shaders on your Videocard as this is the only thing that will effect your ppd. You can overclock your shaders using Rivatuner or Evga Precision Tuner.


Follow these simple steps and save your money. Which then gives you more incentive to fold more!

If it was there it was probably by me but since we have manny new folders Geokilla im sure infact i can bet on it that most of them dont know that only Shaders effect ppd. We already saved one guy in another thread so i think its gonna be helpfull.

i want to note that "Asus Six Engine" really seriously sucks... enable speedstep would probably be better option...

I been using it since September if your refering to it when overclocking i cant comment on it as i havent really used it for that but for underclocking its Top notch have not had a problem as of yet. I have upgraded to its newest version. It gives you enough options i know its lacking when it comes to overclocking but its more friendly when it comes to underclocking.
