I'm using Windows XP SP3. What network setting would I need? I have the Windows firewall disabled, and currently use KIS8 for everything from antivirus to firewall. I've tried disabling KIS8 for 5 minutes on both rigs, but it still wouldn't track the folding progress. Oh, I'm not sure about you guys, but every once in a while I get the problem where Windows says that I'm not authorized to access the shared folder or that it can't access the shared folders because of the wrong directory.

I checked the folding location of the AMD rig and it hasn't changed. The IP address is still 192.168.182.128. I've tried tracking it using \\192.168.182.128\c\etc\folding\1\ and \\Fold-e582\c\etc\folding\1 but neither method can track her folding via my rig.

I've got an XP laptop here, if you give me tonight, I'll try and set Fahmon up on it and see if I can get networking working under the correct settings on there.

Has anyone else found networking in XP to be a pig?

I'm pretty sure that once you have your network setup properly, it should be no issue. When you edit/add the client in Fahmon, don't type \\192.168.182.128\c\etc\folding\1\ but actually search for it under the 'location button' with the 'three dots'. Look under the Network section....

Make sure though before you do this... that you check that these folders are shared on your network! :)

Sometimes, it can't find the folders or computer that I shared in the Network section of Windows Explorer, while other times I can. Say for example I go to My Network Places, some of the shared folders could be gone today and everything will come back tomorrow. Like right now, I have a folder shared on my BT computer called "Mom TVB". My laptop can see the folder just fine, but it's missing on my computer. As you can see from the screenshot, only the folder with the VMX files and VMEM are shared. The folder where the diskless folding is can only be accessed on my sister's rig for some reason.

File and printer sharing is on. I just double-checked on both computers.

Quick, quick... is there anyway to 'pause' the VMware player that is folding? I need to restart my PC...

Just successfully added all 3 VM clients into Fahmon on my XP laptop. When I first did it, I simply pointed it to it via the IP address. However lets try it a different way.

Click on the 3 dots button, select my network places and post me a screenshot of what you see.

Maybe too late, but you can't pause the client. Shut down using the window X.

I'm having problems getting this to work.
When I go to open the folding.vmx file I get these errors...

I made sure Virtualization was on in BIOS.
I've tried un/re-installing VMware... in same dir and right on C: drive.
I deleted and redownloaded the folding.zip package a few times.
Right now I'm running the GPU client and am ready to give up on this for a while.

**edit**
Problem solved... it was UAC in Vista messing things up
