Yeah, I couldn't get my 9800GT and GTX260 to fold. My 260 would fold fine, but my 9800GT will always give me a message "Results successfully sent" or something like that, and then it'll go to "Working: 0/0" and go back to an endless loop with those two messages.

A multiple in what sense? Like a ratio?

The lower shader # has to divide into the higher shader # evenly

ie. The 9600gt(64 shaders) will work with a 8800 gts 512, 9800gtx or 9800gtx+ (128shaders), 64 + 64 = 128. The 9600gt would not work with a 8800gt/9800gt (112 shaders).

After all that there is a post on the [H] forums that the 182.08 drivers might have fixed this, I'm still trying to find more info on it...

I tried the 182.08 for folding with the GTX 285s and the 9800GT with no luck.

That's not the Shader Bug, the conflict between 2xx cards and previous gen cards is something different...

These are two different problems. 1) The 2xx series don't seem to mix with any previous gen cards. 2) The Shader Bug, a mix of cards with different shader counts will cause the faster card to slow down, unless the one shader # is a multiple of the other.

Hope this makes sense...

Ah...gotcha :thumb:

Too bad. So I might be able to grab a 260 (even the 196) and use that for folding and as a PhysX card with my (on the way) 295s if they've got this shader bug sorted!

Good news.

If it fixes the Shader Bug you'd be fine, otherwise one of the new GTX 275's would be safer as they are basically half a 295...

Pfft! Whats an extra $100? About three weeks ago all I wanted to do was add a 9800GT to my rig with the GTX 285. Sounded simple enough, until LCB warned me not to.

All of a sudden, I was getting a new GTX 285. But to get that, I needed a new PSU. My new PSU was big, so a new case was in order...:bananafunky:

This coming from the guy that had just got a smoking rig together, then promptly decides to spend a ton to completely change everything. Step up two 285's to 295's, step up to a classified, change all the W/C gear he just got, upgrading to ssd's, have I missed much...

A measly $100 hah, peanuts...

@ chriskwarren; I hear you can play games on these thing too. It always starts with something small, but then...:haha:
