Default I Need Answer.. Quick!

Hey, I was just wondering how good this video card: FRYS.com*|*PNY is for folding. I'm currently in Seattle right now and I'm not sure how much longer I can leech off Sony's wifi. I'm going to Fry's, and I wanted to pick up a couple of cheap-o cards to add to my rig for folding. Would those be good enough? I was thinking of getting two for the other two PCI-E slots on my EVGA x58. Will this work?

Sorry if that really didn't make much sense, but I'm kind of in a hurry and need answers quick.

From what i know about folding, the GSO's are pretty good in terms of cost/ppd ratio. So I'd say go for it. Anyone off the F@H team wanna back me up on that?

Okay.. Just one totally unrelated question though.. Can I still send in the rebate if I send it from Canada? I'd be getting $80 back if it works.

The 384MB and 758mb GSO cards are the onnes with 96 shaders so it is a good budget folding card. The 512mb version of the GSO has less shaders and thus, not as good a folder.

Okay, back from Seattle. I went with the 9800GT instead since it was $100 with taxes, and there's a $15 MIR too. Also, the 9600GSOs weren't in stock.

So can anybody give me an in-depth guide on how to set it up?

Xilikon has some excellent step-by-step guides here:
[H]orde Guides - [H]ard|Forum

If you are just folding with the single video card, use the "Windows GPU2" guide.

If you are folding with multiple video cards, use "Windows multi-GPU setup".

To use FaHMon to monitor what the folding program is doing and to hep troubleshoot, use this guide: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...-progress.html
