Neither Rosetta nor Seti@Home are offering me job units to do..... anybody else having the same problem?

Yup, Seti is upgrading some of their servers and since they are at the same Campus as the main Boinc servers a lot of folks are having problems.

From the Seti site I thought the project was only going to be down sunday, so much for that theory...

Scheduled Power Outage - update
We are now recovering from a planned power outage, during which all services were off line. The workunit storage machine is undergoing a RAID resync and no new workunits will be generated until this has finished. The outage was for power upgrades on campus, and a similar outage will happen again this upcoming Sunday (01/03/2010) at 12 noon (Pacific time).

You could try Poem, really easy to run with shorter WU's...

I'm sure they could use a break.

I't dosn't effect me much, I only run Boinc in between SMP WU's and since I also crunch Poem and WCG there's plenty to do...

Yeah, I actually put a fair bit of processing power into Rosetta. I prefer the boinc client over SMP as it allows me to run 3 cores on a quad, while leaving the 4'th open for GPU folding. I'm currently running 3 rosetta cores (well not currently since the only work it's got is one of those blasted "hang at around 3%" units) on my Q6600, and one on my 955be (got a dual core VMware SMP running on that one).

I'm a Rosetta lover as well, bonic is simply a much more slipstreamed and better application overall.

I was about to say 'that's a nice Rac you've got there for not running it on all cores' but it just sounds wrong.

I also prefer the Boinc client and running multiple projects helps keep it from getting stale. WCG in particuler because it's an umbrella for six other projects and let's you choose which you want to support.

They also make it a bit more fun by awarding badges for each subproject based on runtime instead of points, so even weaker machines can collect them. The badges are colour coded based on how much time you've contributed so you're alway's working towards the next badge.

Another difference is they keep adding new projects and/or another phase to finished projects which makes the goals a little more concrete, their projects actually end so what is being worked on isn't quite as vague as Folding or Rosetta, Seti etc.

Even with all that my main Addiction is still Folding of course...

Looks like the servers are back up and running again. That said.... I had a crapload (somewhere around 10) of Seti units which ran for under a minute and reported a computational error. Now completing one Seti unit, and setup to start running Rosetta again.

Just a warning, this was posted on the Boinc Forums by David Anderson Project Admin;

The BOINC web site and trac system will be unavailable 3 Jan 20:00 UTC to 4 Jan 20:00 UTC.

Looks like the problems with Seti will be repeated next weekend and might effect other projects like Rosetta again.

Seti and the Main Boinc servers are in neighboring building at the same Berkeley campus which is undergoing a major power grid refit.

All Rosetta crunchers might want to stock up on Tasks for next weekend and maybe lengthen their runtimes to make sure they have enough work.
