Well, Im going to be putting my Folding Username under good use now.

While I am still going to be using World Community Grid and Milkway@home on my Idle Time Only Crunching Gaming Rig, I am going to be converting my Mac Mini from Rosetta@home to Folding@home.

Reasons are BOINC for Mac is acting up, and since the only reason I run World Community Grid and Milkway@home on BOINC is cause Time Management and my Graphics Card is a AMD, I can at least get something out of a Intel Core 2 Duo on a Mac that is running 24/7.

We all do. But there are ways and means to tackle this issue. If you ever do the move, Welcome on board.

On the cpu side of things they've come a long way towards giving you the option to limit the amount of stress (either through limiting the amount of cores used, or they even have a % of CPU use slider). For GPU folding it's not built in to the client, but can be easily done by downclocking the GPU using something like MSI Afterburner.

I'm not sure if I'd recommend folks run FAH on a laptop, but overheating concerns on a desktop are now fairly easy to manage.

You don't need a tag to try it, and we'll give you a tag after you've completed a work unit. :)

Ok I've got it running.

CPU under 100% load is ~ 50 degrees celcius (3570k)
GTX 480 under load full speed undervolted to .925 stable is at 58 degrees celciu at 68% fan speed. Hopefully that won't kill the fan. I'll try this overnight and see what happens. Same username as on here.

I might run this at 4.5 GHZ to see how much it improves. Only 18K ppd :(
