Well it took me long enough but I finally got around to looking into F@H. I am now proud to say I have both machines folding now. Next step is to learn how to maximise my machines potential for folding.

Welcome to the team! Be sure to request a folding tag.

As for maximizing your results, you should be folding (Stanford's Holding@Home) using the GPU client. Then, you can overclock your shaders as they do most of the folding work within your gpu/video card. The nVidia cards do the best job at folding right now.

You can then use Boinc (a piece of software) to do work for our Rosetta@Home team. This will use the CPU to fold.

That would have your video cards doing stuff for one team, and your CPUs for another. I just started a few months ago and love it!

If you have any questions there are lots of helpful people on here. Feel free to ask for help.

ADDICTION!!!!
I'm trying to convince my other half to upgrade her older computer so I can fold with it at night.
Need newer comp with nice Nvidia Geforce GTX 280 like mine. Keep telling her she needs the speed.......

Tell her you need to run them 24/7, you'll save on the heating bill...

edit/ Don't forget to ask for a Folding Tag here Folding tag requests

Default folding now!

At last the time has arrived, my friends;

after making many mistakes installing F@H (first time, i installed the version for cpu ), i succeeded in starting it a few hours ago and all seems ok:

Config:
Core: 310
Shaders: 1400
Mem: 555
Fan sp:60%
GPU temp: 59C
Room temp: 20C

Very glad to contribute to the team
under the name "Gellidius"

Now, i have to try and see if upping the shaders more will work ok,
and also will have to learn to use FahMon.

Before installing F@H, I installed and tried Boinc, but as soon as i opened it, the pc would reboot in an endless loop, which gave me a few headaches.

Here's a new member of the HWC FAH team!

I'm currently running the V6 GPU2 system tray client on Vista 32 bits. My graphic card is a stock Asus EN8600GTS -- guess it's better than nothing (or running the CPU client, which I didn't want to anyway). The temperature of the GPU (reported by NVIDIA monitoring tool) is staying below 60 degrees Celsius, so I guess everything is under control.

Note that since I'm a bit cheap and eco-friendly, I won't be running the client when it's going to get hotter here (which will takes a couple of months and won't last long). Also, I won't be running the client 24/7 since I don't usually leave my computer turned on during the night and I'm also often on my Linux-based OS.
