Main rig is down while I put a couple of 460s in there. First time disassembling a water loop. Hopefully up again by Saturday, while I head out to find some new o-rings to put on the barbs (noob watercooling mistake...should have had some prior to taking the loop apart).

Also got a bit of water on my mobo. Dry now, but I hope the caps that were nearby did not let a charge go.

Well I just got my main GPU (Radeon 4870) back from RMA today, and I got it folding right after I installed the drivers.

Code:
[21:51:57] Project: 5739 (Run 1, Clone 526, Gen 180)
A 511 credit WU! Pretty terrible for PPD, but a great stability test for the repair

I'm guessing 3500. Maybe less.

I have no idea where you got that impression, since 4870s have always done about 3-5k PPD depending on the unit.

On the P5739 work unit I'm seeing ~2700 PPD according to HFM.NET. The 4870 gets me between 2500 and 3500 PPD depending on the WU, with the 384 pointers getting the best PPD. Unfortunately the GPU client is also robbing cycles from my SMP, equivalent to at least -600 PPD. (that's with the environment variables optimization too)

Anyway I fold with my 4870 because its PPD/W is still better than my Pentium 4 and its 87W of power consumption for 103 PPD , and idling a 4870 is just sinful because of its terrible idle efficiency.

From what I can recall is was about 5kppd/core 10kppd per gx2 or about 40kppd from gpu's and then about 10k from the cpu, the box was about 50kppd. All 8 instances of the gpu client only took about 4% of the cpu cycles, just had that cpu client set to 95% duty cycle.
