What find of average PPD increase would you folks expect by replacing 260/216 Superclocked and overclocked cards with the top-of-the-line GTX275 cards?
I played around with a GTX285 but wasn't at all impressed by it. In fairness though, it wasn't one of the high end 285's. I've read in several places that
the top-end 275's will really crank it out.

You won't see more than 1-2k more PPD from an overclocked GTX275 or GTX285 than you would from an overclocked GTX260 (especially if it's a newer 55nm 260 because they overclock much better).

Thanks for that. A little disappointing, as I've read some reports of guys getting close to 4k more, but I was probably expecting too much or they gave a high-peak value. Good thing I asked before wasting the money. My 260's are the newer 55 nm process though and I have the shaders overclocked to 1500. They get a bit finicky over that with some work units so I just leave them at 1500 and they don't complain at all. Thanks again.

All I can say is my dead stock GTX285 did 9200 PPD with 353 pt WU's before it blew up. I'd guess that an OC'd 275 would do similar. I wouldn't have stepped up to the 285 if the 275 was around back then.

I can attest to these numbers on my overclocked card, getting about 9600 on 353's, 9200 on 787's and the DREADED 1888's give me about 8400? Im more sure on the 353/787 numbers then the 1888's.

As Ive always said, even a slightly overclocked 275 competes directly with a 285, both in folding and gaming.

Yup they are pretty much the same.

Finally got all my hardware up and running again (~26k PPD).

I had a 1888 unit on my GTX275 last night and it dropped the PPD to about 2000. I ended up deleting it and got a 353 after.

Sadly I have to cut back on folding to "daylight only" for a while as resources are being squeezed. Once the situation improves I will be back to 24/7 folding, with another rig to boot! *shakes fist at recession*
